Fullerton Sawmill was the largest mill west of the Mississippi river and lasted from 1907 until 1927. During WWI it had a population of 5000. Located near Pitkin, Louisiana the Town of Fullerton had all the modern conveniences. The town had 24 hour electricity, water and sewer. It had a Theatre, Commissary, bank, telephone exchange, Ford Dealership, and numerous other stores. It also had a hotel and hospital. Fullerton also had a public swimming pool. In addition the town had a band and baseball team as well as a dance pavilion.
